Sainsbury's 2013 School Games : Safeguarding

Safeguarding at the Sainsbury's 2013 School Games is there to ensure that all participating athletes enjoy their experiences and perform well within a safe environment.

Working with the NSPCC Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU), the Sainsbury's 2013 School Games has a Safeguarding Plan that is annually developed in order to reflect the needs and support given by the host city but that also;

Supports the sharing of best practice and education in safeguarding practice, and

Raises the standards in safeguarding practice and welfare planning for events across the sports sector.

The Safeguarding Plan has been developed by working with each of the sporting governing bodies. The Safeguarding Plan 2013 will be available to download shortly.

As a high profile multi-sport event for the most talented young athletes from across the country, the Sainsbury's 2013 School Games Finals (12-15 September, Sheffield) requires acts for its Opening and Closing Ceremonies and for a range of sporting venues.

The blue artificial turf with its brilliant pink surround, nicknamed the 'smurf turf', was one of the stand-out images of the London 2012 Olympic Park in Stratford and it will now move from the Riverbank Arena to its new home in Sheffield for the Sainsbury's 2013 School Games.
